If you’ve ever spent hours scrolling Pinterest or Instagram, saved a stunning nail design, and then stared at your blank press-ons thinking “…now what?, twinsies!
That was me for way too long.
I’d find designs I loved, but the posts never explained how to actually create them. No color breakdown. No technique tips. Just a photo and a prayer. So I’d sit down at my desk, brushes in hand, and spend hours putting down a stroke, wiping it off, trying again. It was frustrating, time-consuming, and it low-key made me feel like I wasn’t good enough to pull off the looks I wanted.
But here’s what I eventually realized: the problem wasn’t my skill. It was my process.
After a couple of years of trial and error, I decided I needed some sort of system. Something that would help me think through my designs before I picked up a brush. Something that would eliminate the guesswork and give me a clear path from inspiration to a finished set I was proud of.
So I created one.
I started sketching my designs on paper first. Not because I’m an artist (because I’m not), but because it gave my hands practice making the shapes I’d need to paint. It helped me adjust designs to fit my style instead of feeling stuck copying someone else’s work exactly. And most importantly, it let me see the full set cohesively before I ever touched a full cover nail tip.
Then I worked backward from there. I mapped out every decision I was making intuitively (the vibe, the inspiration, the colors, the layout) and turned it into a repeatable framework.
That framework became what I call The POLISH Method™.
What Is The POLISH Method?
The POLISH Method is a six-step design system that takes you from “I love that vibe” to “I created this myself.” It’s not about following trends or copying other people’s work. It’s about teaching you how to design with intention so you can create press-on sets that reflect your personal style, whether your inspiration comes from a pair of sneakers, a piece of art, a mood, or just a color you can’t stop thinking about.
Here’s the breakdown:
P — Point of View (Mood, moment, and intention)
Every great set starts with a vibe. What does this design need to feel like?
O — Origin (Inspiration + reference)
Where are you pulling ideas from? A sneaker? A texture? A holiday? This step helps you borrow elements, not just copy designs.
L — Layout (Shape + structure)
Shape isn’t an afterthought; it’s part of the design. Choose it intentionally.
I — Inventory (Colors, textures, finishes)
Pull your palette, decide on finishes, and gather everything you need before you start creating. Ditch the mid-design chaos.
S — Sketch (Design planning without needing drawing skills)
This is the step most people skip, and it’s the one that changes everything. Sketching your design on paper first builds confidence, reduces mistakes, and makes execution so much smoother. It’s not about being a good artist. It’s about thinking through your design before committing to it.
H — Hierarchy (Hero nail + balance)
One clear focal point. Supporting details. A set that feels cohesive and intentional.
Why This Matters
The POLISH Method isn’t just about making pretty nails (though you will). It’s about giving you the tools to become your own favorite press-on designer.
No more endless scrolling hoping to find the exact design you want. No more frustration trying to replicate something without knowing where to start. No more wasted time, product, or creative energy.
Just a clear, step-by-step process that works whether you’re designing your first set or your hundredth.
Throughout this blog, I’ll share real examples of The POLISH Method in action, breaking down popular nail art trends, and showing you how to pull inspiration from the world around you to create sets that are uniquely yours. You’ll also find every product I use, my prep and application tips, and the exact techniques that make my sets look editorial-quality.
But it all starts here. With a method. With intention. With you trusting that you don’t need to be an artist to create something beautiful. You just need the right process.
